Boston Area Dermatologist Robin L. Travers, MD
Dr. Travers has been an Assistant Professor of Dermatology at Boston University School of Medicine and Assistant Professor of Medicine (Dermatology) at the Dartmouth Medical school. Before becoming a Boston-area dermatologist at SkinCare Physicians, she served as Chief of Dermatology at the Boston Veteran's Administration Medical Center. She is the author of several papers and teaching articles about pregnancy-associated melanomas and computer-aided instruction in Dermatology and was the guest editor of a recent issue of Seminars in Cutaneous Medicine and Surgery on "Communication Technologies in Dermatologic Practice". Dr. Travers writes a monthly column in the AMA's Archives of Dermatology summarizing the most relevant and exciting recent dermatology research. Dr. Travers is an active member of several professional organizations including the American Academy of Dermatology, the Women's Dermatology Society, the Skin Cancer Foundation, the Melanoma Foundation, the Internet Dermatology Society, and the American Medical Informatics Association. She has lectured to dermatologists and primary care physicians, both locally and nationally, on a variety of topics such as the use of the internet in dermatology and common dermatologic conditions. Dr. Travers' clinical interests include general medical dermatology, in-patient dermatology and women's dermatology. Dr. Travers is an avid endurance athlete. In addition to completing the 87-mile Athens-to-Atlanta inline speedskating race 5 times, she has qualified for and run the Boston Marathon 5 times. She will be running again as a qualified runner in April, 2011. Dr. Travers grew up in Portland, Maine with her identical twin sister. She attended Mount Holyoke College, where she met her husband during a college Parliamentary Debate "pub round" with the invited team from Harvard College. They have a 6-year old son. Dr. Travers has a particular mind for trivia, and has appeared on television's Jeopardy! quiz show. (Please don't make her answer anything in the form of a question, though!)
