As we are transitioning to cooler weather, it’s a good time to think “aesthetic chemical peel”. Fall and winter are optimal seasons to get a peel treatment as we tend to stay indoor more, lowering the level of UV exposure from the sun while our skin recovers. Getting into a yearly aesthetic peel routine is our aesthetician Meredith’s favorite way to achieve that no makeup glow. While the benefits of exfoliation speak for themselves, getting a professional grade exfoliation treatment, such as an aesthetic peel, is something you can feel and see immediately. Fear aesthetic chemical peels no more Many … Continue reading »
Acne … there are different varieties of it, but even the smallest breakouts can affect how we view ourselves and interact with others. Many of us have been dealing with acne since we were teenagers, but I do see patients who experience sudden breakouts in their late 20’s and early 30’s. It seems that we go into a panic when we breakout: we buy the latest breakthrough product or spend hundreds of dollars on prescriptions and treatments that we hope will be the answer. The trick to it all is using the RIGHT products and treatments that work for you. … Continue reading »

Well, Botox might very well do that. There is a great deal of evidence that demonstrates that injections of botulinum toxin neuromodulators (Botox, Dysport, Xeomin) can modify the visible manifestations of emotions and potentially improve emotional states that culminate in greater happiness. If your normal everyday expression is one with a big frown and indented creases on your brow, everyone might think you are angry or upset. If your forehead is always furrowed, you may appear to others as constantly worried, bothered, or lost in deep thought. In both instances, people in your social environment might leave you alone or … Continue reading »
The FDA recently announced the approval of BOTOX Cosmetic for use on crow’s feet, the tiny horizontal lines that form around our eyes when we smile or squint. At our practice in Boston, we use BOTOX and similar products Dysport® and Xeomin® to treat crow’s feet and other facial wrinkles. Although BOTOX has already been approved for use on forehead lines, its FDA approval for crow’s feet is still newsworthy. Even when a product is approved for use on one part of the body, it can take months or even years for it to gain approval for other uses. Many people don’t … Continue reading »
Ever wonder how someone gets that glow to their skin? Did you know there are things you can do daily at home to improve the appearance of your skin? Here are five tips that I recommend to my patients at SkinCare Physicians in Boston. They will get you on the right track to better looking skin in no time.
Fraxel® laser treatments have revolutionized our ability to improve skin texture and color. Our experience shows that a series of 6 treatments usually performed every 4 weeks with the 1550 nm device produces dramatic improvement in fine to moderate wrinkles, while the 1927 nm device is especially helpful for sun-induced skin discoloration. The biggest downside is that the treatments are uncomfortable and they leave patients red and a bit puffy for about 3 days. Typically, individuals have these done either early in the week so they can be ready for the weekend, or on a Friday afternoon so they can … Continue reading »
