Welcome to our new fellows, Drs. Hoverson, Moustafa and Spring

SkinCare Physicians is extending an enthusiastic welcome to this year’s new fellows! Drs. Kara Hoverson, Farah Moustafa and Leah Spring will be working with us to gain hands-on experience in all aspects of cosmetic and dermatologic surgery, as well as laser medicine.

Kara Hoverson, MD

Dr. Hoverson grew up Cooperstown, ND. She graduated magna cum laude from North Dakota State University with a BS in Microbiology then continued at NDSU doing graduate work in Virology. She graduated AOA from the Chicago Medical School. She completed her Intern year at Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii and dermatology residency at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Kara enjoys trying new restaurants, running, traveling with friends and spending time with her retired racing greyhound, Kenny. She looks forward to an amazing year with SkinCare Physicians!

Farah Moustafa, MD

Dr. Moustafa grew up in Bamberg, South Carolina with her younger sister. She graduated summa cum laude from College of Charleston where she earned a B.S. degree in Biology with a minor in political science. She received her M.D. from Wake Forest University where she graduated AOA. She completed her intern year at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and her dermatology residency at Brown University where she served as co-chief resident during her final year. Farah enjoys stand-up comedy, tennis, hip hop music, traveling, and spending quality time with friends and family. She is excited to join SkinCare Physicians and looks forward a productive and enjoyable year.

Leah Spring, DO, FAAD

Dr. Spring graduated with honors from Albion College, MI with a B.A. in Chemistry, and received her medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. After completing internship at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, she was accepted into the flight surgery training program at the U.S. Naval Aerospace Medicine Institute and served two tours as a Navy Flight Surgeon, during which time she participated in both operational and medical relief missions throughout the Pacific. Dr. Spring completed her dermatology residency at Naval Medical Center San Diego where she served as the program’s first female Chief Resident, and since then has served as the Chair of Project C.A.R.E (Comprehensive Advanced Restorative Effort) for wounded warriors, and deployed as the sole dermatologist on a humanitarian mission to Central America. She enjoys dancing in the kitchen with her two young children and trying to beat her husband’s Peloton output. Dr. Spring remarked “I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to join the SkinCare Physicians family and excited to learn from the nation’s leaders in Mohs and laser surgery.
