Today is One Boston Day, and Mayor Marty Walsh asks us all, “What will you do?”. Here at Skincare Physicians, we are still providing state-of-the art laser treatments to those injured and scarred in the blasts 2 years ago, through our Boston Marathon Project Heal.BostonMarathon_ProjectHeal

One of the individuals treated through this project recently had this to say:

“Words cannot describe it, but there it goes! Having the laser treatments done have allowed me to become proud of my ‘battle wounds’. I was embarrassed of them before, but now I can be proud. I truly believe in the quote I found… ‘Never be ashamed of a scar, it simply means you were stronger than what tried to hurt you’.

I can’t say thank you enough for everything that you at SkinCare Physicians have done for me and all the other survivors that received treatments. Despite missing some of my leg, I was able to return back to feeling ‘normal’ and ‘pretty’ because of you guys!”

Sam Moschella of Lahey Clinic and Harvard Medical School, and Bill James professor at University of Pennsylvania. Many renowned dermatologists reminisced over the progress that was made in dermatology over the last 100 years. Dr. Rohrer gave Grand Rounds at Dartmouth UniversityDr. Thomas Rohrer was recently invited to give Grand Rounds at Dartmouth University Medical Center. His lecture was entitled “Botox, Body Contouring, and Skin Tightening” and covered the latest innovations in both technology and techniques to optimize aesthetic results while maintaining a natural look.  Dr. Rohrer went into depth about precisely dosing botulinum toxins to get the best and most natural results. He also discussed the “happiness effect” that Botox has on patients. Studies have shown that botulinum toxins actually help significantly with depression. By relaxing the muscles that frown, a signal is sent to the brain tells it everything is OK and people actually feel better.  He finally shared the dramatic improvements in body shape that can be seen with the Coolsculpting procedure.

Dr. Jeffrey Dover is one of five skin care experts to share his tips on how to combat winter dryness and dullness, which main cause is indoor heating. “While the humidity outside may be as high as 60 or 70 percent, the inside humidity is in the 15 to 20 percent range,” says Dr. Dover to editors at Q, the editorial site of the Equinox fitness and rejuvenation clubs. The best way to protect your skin from dryness is through prevention. “Avoid hot baths and long hot showers, use a moisturizing cleanser rather than soap, which will help keep skin from drying out, and apply moisturizer while the skin is still damp after showering,” he advises. “Following this regimen is a good way to prevent the skin from drying out and also keep it from getting that dull look which increases as the winter progresses.” He also reveals his favorite moisturizing cleanser for the winter, which is Olay 2-in-1 Essential Oil Ribbons moisturizing body wash. He recommends for the face, Aveeno Clear Complexion, CeraVe PM and Cetaphil cream, and for the body, Cetaphil lotion and Aveeno Eczema Therapy Moisturizing Cream. Cover-Town-Country-March-2015SkinCare Physicians’ Dr. Michael Kaminer who helped lead the clinical trial for Cellfina, a newly FDA-cleared device for treatment of cellulite, is extensively quoted in the article, The Ripple Effect, just published in the March issue of Town & Country Magazine. Dr. Kaminer explains that until now the solutions for cellulite, which affects most women, were notoriously ineffective. “Previous treatments targeted the fat under the skin, but we wanted to go after the underlying cause of cellulite,” he says. With Cellfina, a cutting-edge, minimally invasive procedure, he and other colleagues believe that they have found the holy grail of aesthetic treatments.
