Frustrated with acne? Try Isolaz light therapy

Published on Feb 7th, 2017 by Meredith Kiy

Young woman frustrated with acneAcne … there are different varieties of it, but even the smallest breakouts can affect how we view ourselves and interact with others. Many of us have been dealing with acne since we were teenagers, but I do see patients who experience sudden breakouts in their late 20’s and early 30’s. It seems that we go into a panic when we breakout: we buy the latest breakthrough product or spend hundreds of dollars on prescriptions and treatments that we hope will be the answer. The trick to it all is using the RIGHT products and treatments that work for you.

Here at SkinCare Physicians we have the latest procedures that will give you the results you’re looking for. As an aesthetician, I work with our dermatologists to develop the right plan for our patients to treat breakouts, while preventing future scarring or staining. One of my personal favorite therapies is the Isolaz device that we use in our aesthetic department, SkinCare Aesthetics. The Isolaz treatment is a painless therapy that offers deep pore cleansing and dramatically clearer skin. Isolaz uses an innovative technology called photoneumatics (photo=light; pneumatic=vacuum/suction) which is a fast and effective approach to the treatment of acne. SkinCare Physicians was among the first sites in the world to use photoneumatic technology. It’s a great holistic approach for patients who are sensitive to antibiotics, or in conjunction with them, to really achieve radiant, clear complexion.

Here are my answers to the top Isolaz questions I get from patients.

1- How does photo light effect blemishes and cystic acne?
It helps to reduce inflammation and kills bacteria.

2- Have you seen good results with this treatment?
Yes, great results in the right candidates.  The key is to be consistent with having treatments done regularly to achieve maximum improvement.

3- How frequent can Isolaz be performed?
We recommend having an Isolaz at least every 4 weeks. For those patients that want to be aggressive with the treatment. Isolaz is safe to perform every 10 days.

4- Who is a candidate for Isolaz treatment?
Patients with mild to moderate inflammatory and comedonal acne.  This includes small red acne pustules, blackheads and whiteheads.

5- What is the post care for Isolaz?
Some patients may experience mild discomfort depending on their sensitivity level. Post care is very easy. We recommend oil free gentle cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen. Our Isolaz treatment includes a mini facial afterwards where we will extract any active blemishes and end with a finishing mask. Some patients can leave with mild redness depending on how many extractions they needed. But for the most part, when their treatment is done they are free to continue with their normal activities.

6- I’m interested, how can I get started?
We recommend starting with a medical cleansing, which is a thorough deep pore cleansing, to evaluate your skin and see if you are a candidate for this treatment.

If you are frustrated with acne, Isolaz may be the right treatment for you to achieve a clearer skin. Schedule an appointment with one of SkinCare Physicians’ aestheticians.  And once your acne is cleared, ask our dermatologists about our state-of-the-art lasers to correct older acne scars and start fresh with a new mindset.
