Our hands are as vulnerable as our face to aging and the effects of the sun and the environment, but they are often overlooked. Do you have a blue bump or swelling on your lip? If so, you may have a venous lake. These fairly common blue/purple soft bumps or swellings are caused by a single dilated vein. They mainly appear on sun-exposed surfaces such as lips and ears, and generally occur in those over 40 years old. While not dangerous, they usually grow slowly, can get in the way of chewing and eating, and they don’t look particularly nice.
“Is it too early?” is a question often asked by someone considering a procedure to enhance their skin appearance, such as starting to use Botox or Dysport, have a filler injection, or receive a light or laser treatment. My feeling is that it is almost NEVER “too-early”.
